About RABCO, Inc.
Color Glazes and Sized Color Specks
RABCO,
Inc. has been supplying
sized color specks for use in ceramic coatings
since 1979. Our customer list includes virtually all domestic
manufacturers of glazed
wall and floor tile, commercial dinnerware and cookware, prepared
hobby glazes, lamp
bases and artware, structural clay products, specialty porcelain
and sanitaryware. In
addition to the conventional “gold dust” and “salt & pepper” effects,
sized color specks
can be used in many other ways to provide your products with
new and different
looks.
Our regular sized color specks offer another design tool to
enhance the "flat" look of many ceramic coatings. These materials
can introduce complimentary or contrasting colors to the background
color. Indeed, our "Stainspex" colors can actually tint the glaze
and provide the visual interest of increasingly larger specks
of the same color in the tinted background.
Our transparent specks added to flat matte or engobe coatings
will pick up and enhance or magnify the color of the base coat
providing a pleasing contrast of shiny spots of the same color
as the non-reflective background.
Combining several colors and sizes can result in the ever-popular
"Granite" look. Using only one color in a disco-applied granite
glaze can shift the overall color effect without another glaze
application.
RABCO specks can also be used to add the third dimension of
height or depth to your coating in a controlled manner. Ask us
about "pebbles" or "dents". And, combining a soft glaze -- in
sized color speck form -- with a harder glaze coating can produce
interesting effects, especially on vertical surfaces.
RABCO specks can simulate iron spots on brick and quarry tile
surfaces and can be used to produce the ever popular "enamel
ware" coatings on whiteware bodies. Also, we offer "reactive"
specks, the use of which can produce unusual and often unpredictable
results in certain glaze compositions.
We also manufacture a complete line of premixed, completely
prepared dry glazes for a wide range of firing conditions and
product application. And, we offer our experience in developing
glaze coatings for your exclusive use under certain conditions.
Perhaps you have other thoughts on how RABCO color specks and/or
glazes can be used on your products. If so, do not hesitate to
call on us. We would be pleased to discuss our materials with
your and supply you with technical assistance and samples of
any of the above-mentioned products for evaluation in your plant. |
